The Night Circus (Unabridged) - Erin Morgenstern

Lots of pre-release hype, big pay day for the author and an impressive first printing, fights for movie rights, comparisons to Rowling, conjuring up tastes of "Something Wicked This Way Comes"...big shoes to fill... and Morgenstern is up to the daunting task with this elegant and ethereal novel. From the first sentence I was hooked, swept away somewhere between a dream and reality. (And hasn't it been a pitifully long dry spell in the literary world?) This fantasy fable easily transcends genres and has real staying power because of Morgenstern's gifted ability to tell a wonderful story with the right mix of exceptional prose and allegory--inviting the reader to travel along dreamily, or to interpret each step of the evocative journey of "love, greed, and fate". Destined for the Favorites Lists of many a reader, and, probably and second or third read. Not a fast pace action yarn, but one that will nevertheless keep you glued to your ear buds, and stay with you long afterwards. And, what can you say about Jim Dale other than PERFECTION?! His magical voice makes this an unforgettable and rare treat. An absolutely perfect pairing!
